1. Healthy Yards Monroe County in association with Penfield Community Victory Garden Presents Native Plant Sale Fundraiser on Saturday, May 20, 2023, from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm (Rain or Shine)

  • Penfield Recreation Community Center Grounds; 1985 Baird Road; Penfield, NY 14625
  • Healthy Yards Monroe County will have a booth selling native plants
  • A large selection of native plants suitable for sun and shade.

2. Genesee Land Trust’s Birding Meadow Walk @ Salmon Creek Nature Preserve on Sunday, May 21, 2023, from 10:00 am to 11:30 am.

  • 492 Bennett Road; Hilton, Ny 14468
  • May is peak season for bird migration, and Salmon Creek Nature Preserve is a hot spot with more than 100 bird species already identified.
  • Led by Greg Lawrence, SUNY Brockport research scientist focused on birds and Genesee Land Trust Board Member
  • Easy and educational walk around the meadow and along.
  • Bring a reusable water bottle and binoculars (if you have them — they will have a few pairs available)
  • Dress for the weather and wear closed-toe shoes.
  • Please leave dogs at home
  • Accessibility: This trail is wide, flat, and grassy — accessible for wheels unless the ground is wet/muddy. There are 3 benches along the trail, which is a ~1.5-mile loop. There is limited shade around the meadow. Paved off-street parking with eight spaces available, as well as many spaces along the side of the road. Please use caution if you park along the road – it can be busy. There is no bathroom.
  • Covid safety: In accordance with the latest CDC guidance, masks are optional for fully vaccinated attendees. Please do not attend if you are not feeling well for any reason.
